You will see hundreds of baboons and monkeys in the forests inside the park; in the grassy plains, you will see large herds of buffaloes, wildebeests, and zebras. As you enter the acacia woodland you will see the world famous tree-climbing lions, elephants, and giraffes.
The park is dominated by a soda lake that attracts both resident and migratory water birds; over 400 species of birds have been recorded in the park and if you invest a day you may see about 100 of these birds species in a single day. The pink-hued flamingoes are the most noticeable birds as they descend on the lake during their annual migration.
