Tour Details

The Northern Circuit Route is the newest and longest route on Mount Kilimanjaro. This route circles around the northern slopes all the way to the east; ascent to the summit is via Gilman’s Point and then the descent is through Mweka Gate.

This route is longer than the other routes in Southern Circuit; it also has one of the highest success rates. Longer routes tend to have higher success rate because hikers spend more days on the mountain which helps their bodies acclimatize better.

The Northern Circuit Route can be done in 8 or 9 days; if you opt to do the route in 8 days, you will skip an extra acclimatization day at Shira Camp 2 and continue directly to Moir Camp on the third day of the hike.
